To chat with one of your contacts:

 

1. On the LaunchPad, click on the contact you want to call, which will highlight the name.

2. Click on "Actions" -> "Text Chat" to bring up the 1-to-1 chat window or right-click on the highlighted contact and select "Text Chat" from the dropdown menu.

3. The following chat window appears.

4. During the text chat period, you may change the text fontface, size, and color of the message you send out. Clcik on the Set Font button () to bring up the font setting window.

5. You may also select an emotional icon ("emoticon") to send to the other user. Click on Insert Icon button () to select from a list of available emoticons.

6. There is also a list of pre-defined phrases for quick response to save you time spent typing. Click on "Quick Reply" button () to bring up the list of phrases. (Note that the list can be redefined/modified from the LaunchPad by clicking "Tools" -> "options" -> "Status" -> "Quick Reply Setting.")

7. To make an audio/video call to the same contact you are chatting with, just simply click on the phone button () to make the call. The operation for a media call is described in the following section.
